RISK MANAGER (FINANCIAL COUNTERPARTIES)
The Risk Manager (Financial counterparties) will be primarily responsible for evaluating counterparty risk on the liability side of balance sheet and contingent risks. To partner with departments whose activities give rise to various risks, with a particular focus on liability side of balance sheet risks, insurance, procurement, technical risks and IT risks and the counterparties related thereto. The Risk Manager is to implement measures to monitor and mitigate these risks and individual counterparty risks in this area.
Reporting to Deputy Head of Risk, the successful candidate will assume the following key roles:
Main Responsibilities:
Risk Management
- Build effective relationships in relevant departments – including but not limited to Treasury, Settlement, Insurance, Technical, Procurement and IT – in order to understand the departmental objectives and activities that give rise to risk.
- Identify, evaluate, monitor and report on risks that are managed by these departments.Review and develop policies relating to each risk, jointly with the relevant Heads of Department, for inclusion in the departmental and Risk dept policies and procedures.
- Independently evaluate, monitor and report on the management of identified risks.
- Monitor for emerging risks.
- Provide guidance and evaluation to the first lines of defence, in order to strengthen the performance of single risk management.
- Maintain comprehensive, accurate and orderly records and files on all risk matters.
- Produce meeting reports within 24 hours following meeting with external parties.
- Lead in identifying, monitoring and setting policy for the management of one or more types of risk (such as insurance or financial counterparties).Build effective working relationships with those directly involved in activities that give rise to these types of risk.
Data Management
- Lead the day-to-day management, monitoring and reporting of data relating to the portfolio information especially the liability side of balance sheet and non-airline risks.
- Lead the streamlining of reports and implementation of excel spreadsheets onto systems.
- Monitor the overall risk portfolio, routinely produce and coordinate reports for various risk related issues and general portfolio monitoring, including for submission to the Board and Risk Committee.
- Prepare regular scheduled reports including the monthly Directors’ Report, Senior Management Report, and reports for Risk Management Committee and Board Risk Committee.
Projects & others
- Complete other risk management and business analysis tasks as assigned by the CRO, DMD & Vice Chairman, or Managing Director & CEO from time to time.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance or Accountancy.
- Proficient with excel, VBA and Power BI
- At least 3 years of relevant credit analysis and risk management experience, ideally in the financial services sector. Knowledge of Treasury risk management or insurance would be an advantage.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you will be supporting and challenging colleagues working on the front line.
- Ability and confidence to form and communicate reasoned opinions and debate those opinions as required, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to multi-task, with good analytical and decision-making skills whilst working within tight deadlines.
- Willingness to travel on ad hoc basis, as required.
