SALE Delivers First New A320s to Air Deccan

09 Mar 2005

Singapore Aircraft Leasing Enterprise (SALE) has delivered the first two new Airbus A320 aircraft to join the fleet of Indian low cost airline Air Deccan. The aircraft (MSN 2366 and MSN 2376) arrived in India today, direct from the Airbus delivery line in Toulouse, France.

The new aircraft join three used A320s flying with Air Deccan since July last year, which are also leased from SALE. In addition to the leased aircraft, Air Deccan has two more A320s on firm order with Airbus for delivery later in the year, as well as an agreement to purchase 30 more.

Robert Martin, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of SALE, said that the Singapore leasing company was pleased to have played a key role in the development of Air Deccan.

“The potential for growth in the Indian domestic market is quite simply phenomenal,” he said. “We are therefore proud to have been involved as the initial supplier of aircraft to Air Deccan, as well as having played a role in the development of the low cost travel sector in India.”

SALE is the leading Asia-based aircraft leasing company, with a portfolio currently comprising 60 modern aircraft in service with 30 airlines worldwide. The company has been especially successful in the low cost sector, where other current customers include Air Asia, America West, easyJet, Frontier Airlines, Jetstar Australia, Jetstar Asia, Spirit Airlines and Valuair.
