BOC Aviation Delivers First Boeing 737 MAX 9 Aircraft

25 Feb 2019

BOC Aviation Limited (“BOC Aviation” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce that it has delivered its first Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft to its newest customer, Icelandair, based in Reykjavik. The aircraft will be powered by CFM LEAP-1B Engines.

“Following the successful induction of the Boeing MAX 8 into our fleet last year, we are delighted to add the first of our MAX 9 aircraft and to assist Icelandair with its expansion and re-fleeting programme” said Steven Townend, Chief Commercial Officer (Europe, Americas, Africa), BOC Aviation. “With our focus on investing in the latest technology jets, we remain committed to providing our customers with aircraft that feature the most innovative and fuel efficient solutions,” he added.

“We are very pleased to team up with BOC Aviation for the financing of our first 737 MAX 9 aircraft delivered from Boeing. We are confident that the outstanding economics of the aircraft will help us with the continued expansion of Icelandair‘s route network,” said Bogi Nils Bogason, CEO of Icelandair Group.

“We are excited to deliver the first 737 MAX 9 for BOC Aviation, a valued partner over the last 25 years and a lessor that continues to grow its diverse portfolio of fuel-efficient and in-demand aircraft,” said Ihssane Mounir, senior vice president of Commercial Sales & Marketing for The Boeing Company. “With the 737 MAX 9, BOC Aviation will be able to offer airlines like Icelandair a great complement to the 737 MAX 8. It’s an airplane that offers more seats and more revenue opportunities while incurring lower trip costs than the aircraft it replaces.”
