SALE Leases New A320 to Air Via

13 Apr 2006

Singapore Aircraft Leasing Enterprise (SALE) has leased one new Airbus A320 aircraft to Bulgarian charter operator Air Via. The aircraft (MSN 2732) was delivered from the Airbus assembly line in Toulouse this week and is being leased by the airline on a long-term basis. The aircraft is powered by V2500 engines from IAE International Aero Engines.

Established in 1990, Air Via operates charter services linking Bulgaria's main tourist destinations with source markets in Europe. The aircraft delivered by SALE this week is the airline's first new A320 and the second to join its fleet. The carrier will take a third A320 from another lessor in the middle of this year.

Robert Martin, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of SALE, said that the Singapore-based company was pleased to be able to play a role in the development of Air Via.

"Eastern Europe offers huge potential as a growing market for both scheduled and charter operators," he said. "We are confident that Air Via has the potential to succeed in opening up the Bulgarian tourist market and we look forward to a lasting and mutually beneficial relationship between our two companies.”

SALE is the leading Asia-based aircraft leasing company, with a current fleet of 79 modern aircraft flying with 33 airlines worldwide. The company has 22 more aircraft on firm order with Airbus and Boeing for delivery through to 2008.
