BOC Aviation - 25 Years of Excellence

26 Nov 2018

BOC Aviation Limited (“BOC Aviation” or “the Company”) is pleased to celebrate 25 years of unbroken profitability since it was founded as Singapore Aircraft Leasing Enterprise Pte. Ltd. on 25th November 1993.

“Since our inception 25 years ago we have grown organically to one of the world’s top-five aircraft operating lessors and the largest headquartered in Asia” said Robert Martin, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of BOC Aviation. “During this period we have grown our assets to over US$17 billion, recorded cumulative profits of more than US$3.2 billion and now employ more than 160 people in our offices in Singapore, London, Dublin, New York and Tianjin. We are proud of our heritage as a Singapore-based company and our thanks go out to our team of dedicated employees, our shareholders, directors, customers, suppliers, the Singapore Government and other stakeholders that have made this journey possible. We look forward to many successful years ahead.”

“We are delighted to celebrate this significant milestone with BOC Aviation. A pioneer and one of the leading lessors with its headquarters based in Singapore, BOC Aviation has contributed tremendously to the development of Singapore's aircraft leasing sector and we look forward to continuing our successful partnership for many years to come,” said Mr. Lim Kok Kiang, Assistant Managing Director, Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB).

BOC Aviation’s strong foundation was laid by its early shareholders, which included Singapore Airlines, a founding shareholder, as well as Temasek Holdings and GIC. In December 2006, BOC Aviation was acquired by Bank of China, which has a long history in aviation financing and is China’s most international bank. Since then BOC Aviation embarked on a period of significant growth during which its total assets increased more than five-fold and its total owned, managed and committed fleet rose from around 100 to almost 500 aircraft. It also included a successful Initial Public Offering on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2016.

A consistent theme throughout its history has been BOC Aviation’s stable management team. Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Mr. Robert Martin, recently celebrated his twentieth year leading the Company, and Mr. Phang Thim Fatt, Chief Financial Officer and Deputy Managing Director, has been with the Company since inception.
