SALE Appoints Head of Human Resources

04 Dec 2001

Singapore Aircraft Leasing Enterprise (S.A.L.E.) has appointed Joanna Tham as its new Head of Human Resources. Ms Tham joins the company from Shimano, where she was most recently Singapore-based Global Human Resource Manager.

Joanna Tham will be responsible for all human resource issues for staff based in Singapore, as well as overseas. In addition to the development of existing skills at all levels within the company, Ms Tham will oversee the recruitment of additional personnel in line with the company’s ongoing expansion plan.

Robert Martin said that the appointment reflected another milestone in the company’s plan to develop its in-house capability. “The highly committed team at S.A.L.E. has consistently delivered excellent results for the company in a highly competitive market environment,” he said. “With Joanna Tham on board we will now be in a position to develop further our strongest asset as we meet the challenges of the immediate future and move towards continued long term growth.”

Established in 1993, S.A.L.E. is a major Singapore success story, operating in the global aircraft leasing and aviation services market. The company has recorded consistent year-on-year growth since it began operations, reaching a net profit before tax in the last fiscal year of US$41.4 million on revenues of US$137.6 million.

Altogether, the S.A.L.E. fleet currently comprises 40 modern single aisle and widebody aircraft, with an average age of just 4.6 years. The company has 20 airline customers worldwide, based in the Asia-Pacific region, Europe, the Middle East and North and South America.
