SALE Finalises Purchase and Leaseback of Additional A320

31 Jul 2002

Singapore Aircraft Leasing Enterprise (SALE) is to acquire one more A320 aircraft, with the conclusion of a purchase and long-term leaseback agreement with Germany’s Aero Lloyd. The aircraft, bearing serial number 990 was delivered to the airline new in 1999 and is powered by IAE V2500 engines.

The latest agreement is the second transaction between SALE and Aero Lloyd, following a deal for the purchase and leaseback of one A321 late last year.

SALE Managing Director Robert Martin said that the deal reflected the Singapore lessor’s strategy to continue to acquire aircraft both directly from the manufacturers and the airline market.

“Airlines large and small are looking to increase the number of leased aircraft within their fleets, including through the sale and leaseback of existing aircraft,” he said. “At SALE we are actively seeking to enter such agreements for newer aircraft types with quality carriers.”

Established in 1993, SALE has swiftly grown to become one the world’s leading aircraft leasing companies, with a current portfolio of 41 modern aircraft and 22 customers in 16 countries. The company has 31 more aircraft on firm order with Airbus and Boeing for delivery through to 2008.

Offering true global coverage, SALE has offices in Singapore, London, Washington D.C. and San Diego, California.
