SALE Leases A320 to BH Air of Bulgaria

06 Jun 2003

Singapore Aircraft Leasing Enterprise (SALE) has leased one A320-200 to Bulgarian carrier BH Air for a period of three years. The aircraft, bearing serial number MSN 29, has now entered service with the airline and is the first Airbus type to join the carrier’s fleet.

Robert Martin, Managing Director of SALE, said that the company was pleased to be able to play a role in the airline’s refleeting programme.

“BH Air is the third new carrier to join the list of operators of SALE aircraft this year,” he said. “As we continue to expand our customer base, we look forward to developing long-term relationships with new lessees in all the major world regions.”

Ianko Ivanov, Managing Director of BH Air, said that the arrival of the A320 marked a milestone for the growing charter carrier.

“The option to lease the A320 has enabled us to upgrade our product without the high capital outlay required for the acquisition of new aircraft,“ he said. “We are grateful to SALE for its swift and efficient response to our requirement, as well as the technical support it has offered in helping us to prepare for the arrival of this new aircraft type.”

Mr. Ivanov also pointed out that the A320 deployment is the first stage of BH Air’s program of fleet enlargement and modernization.

“This is the fifth aircraft in the fleet and an additional one is considered to be negotiated late this autumn. Thus, BH Air will be ready to meet the challenge of the permanent increase of the demand for tourist travels to Bulgaria.”

Established in 1993, SALE has swiftly grown to become one of the world’s leading aircraft leasing companies, with a portfolio currently comprising 47 modern aircraft. Offering true global coverage, SALE has offices in Singapore, London, Washington D.C. and San Diego, California.

Privately-owned BH Air primarily operates flights on behalf of UK tour operator Balkan Holidays, linking airports throughout the UK to key tourist destinations in Bulgaria.
