SALE to Acquire Three More A319s

16 Jun 2005

Singapore Aircraft Leasing Enterprise (SALE) has finalised a contract with India's Kingfisher Airlines for the purchase and leaseback of three A319s. The aircraft, powered by IAE V2500 engines, will be delivered new from Airbus in December 2005 and January 2006 and will be leased to the airline on a long-term basis.

Mumbai-based Kingfisher Airlines began operations in May this year, flying on key Indian domestic routes.

Robert Martin, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of SALE, said that the deal with Kingfisher underscored the Singapore-based lessor's success with new airlines in the Asian region.

"The recent opening up of Indian skies has created one of the fastest growing air transport markets in the world today," he said. "We at SALE are very pleased to have been able to play a role in supplying aircraft to meet demand in the country and look forward to a long and mutually beneficial partnership with Kingfisher."

Established in 1993, SALE has swiftly grown to become a global force in the aircraft leasing business, with 64 aircraft now flying with 29 airlines worldwide. Altogether, the company has already acquired 55 Airbus A320 family aircraft, with orders and purchase commitments for 15 more for delivery between now and May 2006.
