SALE Orders 10 More Boeing 737 Aircraft

25 Apr 2006

Singapore Aircraft Leasing Enterprise (SALE) has placed an order with Boeing for 10 more Next-Generation 737 aircraft, plus 10 options and 10 purchase rights. The aircraft on firm order will be delivered in 2009 and 2010.

The agreement is SALE’s second direct order with Boeing for the Next-Generation 737 product line in under a year. Last May the company placed firm orders for 20 aircraft for delivery between the end of 2006 and 2008.

SALE has specified the 737-800 as the baseline aircraft for its latest order, however the agreement provides for conversions to other Next-Generation 737 models at a later date. The new aircraft will be powered by the latest generation CFM56-7B engines from CFM International, which is sole engine supplier for the Next-Generation 737 product line.

Robert Martin, SALE Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, said that the new order with Boeing reflected the company's success with its initial batch of 737-800s, half of which have already been placed with airlines well in advance of delivery.

“Demand for leased aircraft from the Next-Generation 737 series remains strong with airlines from all sectors of the industry," he said. "The decision to acquire the Next-Generation 737 series has been an excellent exercise in portfolio diversification."

Larry Dickenson, senior vice president, Sales – Boeing Commercial Airplanes said: “We continue to develop our strong relationship with SALE. The 737 family provides extreme operational flexibility for both full-service and low-cost carriers, enabling easy placement of the 737 models with operators.”

SALE is the leading Asia-based aircraft leasing company, with a current fleet of 79 aircraft in service with 33 airlines worldwide. The company now has a total of 32 aircraft on firm order for future delivery, comprising 30 Next-Generation 737s and two A320s.
