BOC Aviation Takes Delivery Of 250th Aircraft From Airbus

05 Jan 2017

BOC Aviation Limited (“BOC Aviation” or “the Company”) is pleased to announce the delivery of its 250th aircraft from Airbus. The aircraft is an A330-300 delivered to Air China, the fifth of the five widebody aircraft leased to the Chinese airline under a purchase-and-leaseback arrangement first announced on 3 October 2016.

“This milestone is testimony to the long-standing relationships upon which we have built our success,” said Robert Martin, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of BOC Aviation. “We recently marked our 23rd anniversary in business, and we are proud to celebrate a strong relationship with Airbus, which has been a significant partner throughout our history.”

“Such long-standing ties are the basis for both parties to provide the strong support expected by airline customers,” Mr. Martin added. “We are pleased that our 250th Airbus aircraft was delivered to Air China as we marked this milestone.”

“With repeat orders totalling some 316 aircraft, BOC Aviation is our 10th largest Airbus customer and now one of the world’s biggest lessors,” said John Leahy, Chief Operating Officer - Customers.  “When lessors finance almost 50 percent of Airbus deliveries, the importance of strong partnerships with customers like BOC Aviation cannot be underestimated. We salute BOC Aviation on its landmark 250th delivery.”

BOC Aviation is one of Airbus’ top 10 customers globally. BOC Aviation’s cumulative orders to date for new Airbus aircraft have reached a total of 316 aircraft, comprising 304 aircraft from the A320 family and 12 A330 aircraft. BOC Aviation was Airbus’ largest lessor customer for 2016 as measured in aircraft deliveries. In addition, BOC Aviation has committed to its first A350 acquisition with the purchase-and lease-back agreement of six aircraft signed with Qatar Airways scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2017.

In total, BOC Aviation took delivery of 67 aircraft in 2016, including 11 that were acquired by airline customers upon delivery.
