BOC Aviation Delivers First P&W-Powered A320NEO Aircraft To S7 Airlines

21 Jul 2017

BOC Aviation Limited (“BOC Aviation” or “the Company”) is pleased to announce that it has delivered its first A320NEO aircraft to S7 Airlines. The aircraft is also the first A320NEO powered by the Pratt & Whitney PurePower® PW1100G-JM engine to be delivered to any Russian carrier.

BOC Aviation is scheduled to deliver a second A320NEO to the airline in the first half of 2018.

“This delivery is a milestone for us in many ways: not only is this the first A320NEO to be delivered to a Russian airline, but it is also the country’s first A320NEO to be powered by Pratt & Whitney’s new engine technology,” said Robert Martin, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of BOC Aviation. “We continue to build on our longstanding relationships with Pratt & Whitney and Airbus to provide our airline customers with attractive airframe and fuel-efficient engine solutions to meet their transportation needs.”

"S7 Airlines is constantly renewing its fleet using the latest technology and innovations from the world's leading manufacturers. Airbus A320NEO aircraft are more efficient in operation and flying range is better compared to the previous generation. Very soon, passengers of S7 Airlines will be the first in Russia to experience the new level of comfort offered by this modern aircraft. Step by step, aircraft of this new lineup will replace our Airbus A320 fleet," said the Chairman of the Board of S7 Airlines Vladislav Filev.

"We are pleased to continue our long-term partnership with BOC Aviation and to see the A320NEO enter service with S7 Airlines," said John Leahy, Chief Operating Officer, Customers, Airbus. "This delivery demonstrates the confidence that airlines have in the A320NEO family, its operational efficiency, reliability and unrivalled passenger comfort."

Chris Calio, President, Pratt & Whitney Commercial Engines, said, “As a growing airline and new customer to Pratt & Whitney, we are confident that S7 will appreciate the benefits that this state-of-the-art engine provides, especially in terms of fuel savings and emissions. We also thank BOC Aviation for being the first to place one of many GTF-powered aircraft that S7 will be leasing.”
