BOC Aviation Orders Eight Boeing 777-300ER Aircraft for Lease to Thai

02 Nov 2010

BOC Aviation has ordered eight 777-300ERs from Boeing for long-term lease to Thai Airways (THAI).  The aircraft, powered by GE90-115BL engines, are scheduled for delivery to the airline from August 2012 to October 2013.  The lease transaction marks the first time that BOC Aviation has worked with Thailand’s national carrier.

Piyasvasti Amranand, President of Thai Airways International, said, “THAI’s corporate vision is to be the First Choice Carrier with Touches of Thai.  As we enhance our reputation of providing good service with a young fleet, we are pleased to partner BOC Aviation, Asia’s leading aircraft leasing company, for this transaction.”

Robert Martin, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of BOC Aviation, said the new order of the popular Boeing 777-300ERs has enabled the Company to offer aircraft that are favoured by major global airlines.  “We are in the process of replenishing our order book as air traffic has returned strongly.  With the order of these eight Boeing 777-300ERs for lease to THAI, we have further strengthened the quality of both our lease and aircraft portfolios.  We look forward to developing further our partnership with THAI and playing a long-term role in the carrier's future fleet requirements.”

“Over the years, BOC Aviation and Boeing have worked together to provide the world’s airlines with reliable airplanes that provide superior operational efficiency,” said Marlin Dailey, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Boeing Commercial Airplanes. "These additional Boeing 777-300ERs support THAI’s commitment to expanding market presence while delivering profitable growth.”

BOC Aviation is the leading Asia-based aircraft leasing company with a portfolio of 137 narrowbody and 26 widebody modern aircraft operated by airlines worldwide.  Including today’s announcement, the Company has 13 widebody aircraft on firm order and another four on committed purchase and leaseback for delivery through to 2013.  BOC Aviation has one of the youngest fleets in the industry with an average aircraft age of less than four years.

BOC Aviation is 100% owned by Bank of China.
