BOC Aviation Places Engine Order with CFM International

23 Jul 2007

BOC Aviation has signed a contract with CFM International for the firm order of CFM56-5B engines to power seven A320 family aircraft on order with Airbus. In addition, the contract includes options for the supply of engines to power up to 10 more aircraft from the Airbus single aisle range.

The deal marks the first time that the Singapore-based aircraft leasing company has signed a direct contract with CFM International to power its A320 family aircraft.

Robert Martin, Chief Executive Officer of BOC Aviation, said that the company was pleased to extend its commercial relationship with CFM International.

"The CFM56-powered A320 family is popular with airlines from every sector of the business and all geographic regions,” he said. “We are pleased that we will now be able to enter the market for this successful airframe and engine combination.”

CFM International is a 50/50 joint company between Snecma and General Electric and produces engines for both the Airbus A320 family and Boeing 737 series.

BOC Aviation, previously known as Singapore Aircraft Leasing Enterprise (SALE), is the leading Asia-based aircraft leasing company. Today the company has a fleet of 75 modern aircraft flying with 29 airlines worldwide.

The company has a total of 63 aircraft on firm order for delivery from Airbus and Boeing for delivery through to 2012. These include 20 aircraft from the Airbus A320 family.

BOC Aviation is owned 100% by Bank of China.
