BOC Aviation Leases Four New A320-200 Aircraft to Hong Kong Dragon Airlines
22 Feb 2012
BOC Aviation has signed agreements with Hong Kong Dragon Airlines (“Dragonair”) for the lease of four new A320-200 aircraft. Two aircraft will be delivered by the end of this month and the other two in the last quarter of this year. All four aircraft are powered by IAE2527-A5 SelectOne engines. This is the first time that BOC Aviation and Dragonair are working together.
Mr. Patrick Yeung, Chief Executive Officer of Dragonair, said the airline had always been keen to build on the growing demand for services from the Mainland and the region, and in strengthening Hong Kong’s hub position. “With these aircraft from BOC Aviation, we are now able to increase our capacity, expand our network and reach out to markets that we target in our growth strategy,” he said. “We are pleased to work with BOC Aviation and look forward to furthering this relationship.”
Mr. Steven Townend, Deputy Managing Director & Chief Commercial Officer of BOC Aviation said, “We are very pleased to conclude our first transaction with Dragonair and further expand our excellent relationship with the Cathay Pacific Group. This is the start of a long-term partnership which we will build upon.” Mr. Townend added that the Asia-Pacific passenger market is still performing well and more than 70% of BOC Aviation’s aircraft deliveries this year are going to carriers in the region.
BOC Aviation is the leading Asia-based aircraft leasing company with a portfolio of 181 modern aircraft operated by airlines worldwide. In addition, the company has 68 aircraft on firm order and another one on committed purchase and leaseback. BOC Aviation has one of the youngest fleets in the industry with an average aircraft age of less than four years.
BOC Aviation is 100% owned by Bank of China, one of the largest banks in the world.
