Manager, Technical
Reporting to the Senior Vice President & Deputy Head of Technical, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Maintenance Reserves / Return Compensation Projections
- Forecasting maintenance costs and maintenance reserve cash flows for new and used aircraft placements, purchase and lease backs, outright purchase and sale transactions, providing maintenance reserve exposure projections for return compensation and finance leases.
- Producing cash flow forecasts for Senior Management, for Financial Planning and Analysis, the Revenue and Risk Committee, for ABS vehicle budgeting and cashflow management, and other stakeholders.
- Developing financial models to quantify and forecast aircraft lease maintenance reserve and return compensation exposure and cashflow, on an aircraft and portfolio basis. Develop maintenance reserve exposure and cashflow models for different scenarios regarding operational utilisation, operating environment and other factors.
- Supporting transition projects with maintenance reserves projections, lessor contribution and return compensation calculations.
- Participating in and contributing to maintenance cost related and other technical, lease pricing and financial management projects. Write related reports and develop presentations for the technical and commercial management of BOC Aviation.
Automation and Process Improvement
- Formalising models to enable calculation automation and report generation as far as possible. Driving efficiency improvements by developing processes and concepts for forecasting automation of maintenance cash flow and exposure forecasting.
- Evaluating or developing and introducing new IT systems to enhance effectivity and efficiency of maintenance cost and exposure forecasting, including interfaces with existing systems. Developing and updating related processes, policies and procedures.
- Automating asset tracking and utilisation data acquisition using existing reports, continuously improving systems and developing new systems and processes as required.
Cost Benchmarking
- Leading the definition of the Company’s standard maintenance cost assumptions and maintenance reserve rates. Maintaining a maintenance claim and maintenance cost database.
- Developing models and processes to compare and monitor maintenance reserve rates against benchmark rates, as well as cash flow implications of various scenarios.
- Collating maintenance cost data, developing and maintaining maintenance cost databases and maintenance cost benchmarking methods. Reviewing and benchmarking maintenance reserves for different aircraft and engine types and vintages, with the focus on powerplant maintenance cost.
Maintenance Reserves Claims
- Managing maintenance reserve claims and tracking status of maintenance reserve funding and exposure for aircraft and powerplant assets.
- Managing IT tools and policies and procedures related to maintenance reserve claims.
Job Requirements:
- Degree in Engineering or Finance and at least three to five years of relevant financial modeling experience.
- Working experience in the aviation industry (e.g. leasing company, MRO, airline).
- Possess good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly of Microsoft Excel modelling.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Diligent and able to work under pressure and complete tasks within tight deadlines.
